Lloyds Lightening Strike

We went into the game off the back of yesterdays Great Cup Win! We expected a really hard game against a team who were 3rd in the league having only lost 1 game all season.

The team went out with the same formation as yesterday to stifle to opposition in the early stages always looking for the counter attack. James, Danny and Jack who was re-instated in defence worked tirelessly during the first half against strong attack play by Hawkwell. Kieran, Louis and Charlie Rick (who was Captain today) worked wonders in midfield and also made some great surging runs, testing the opposition defence. We went in all square at half-time.

We changed formation in the second half, pushing James into midfield, with Lloyd and Shaun and Charlie Perry replacing the midfield three.

Hawkwell continued to create chances but we held firm and gradually started to create our own opportunities. Luck was on our side when with 10 minutes to go, Charlie P and Lloyd ran through. Lloyd seizing the initiative and chipping the ball over the goalkeeper which hit the back of the net after coming off the post. (The goal I am led to believe had shades of Bergkamp in it). 1-0!!!

We held firm under constant pressure to the end and I can only congratulate all the boys on the performances this weekend.

You all worked really hard and you all deserved the two successes we have had this weekend.

Congratulations and well done. Who would have thought at the start of the weekend you would beat a team in a division above you and then beat the team 3rd in the league who had lost 1 game all season. These results really are excellent, you should all be really proud of yourselves.
