Lions punished by Fairfax

Training went really well on Saturday and there was an air of optimism that we could reverse the loss at Fairfax from a few weeks back.

Ryan was commanding in goal, Danny and James look comfortable at the back, with Joe, Jack and Tom all working hard in midfield. Jack played in midfield for the first time, he put in an inspired performance as we looked to try something new. Kieran played as our lone striker and as always ran his socks off. Playing up the slope in the first half was always going to be difficult and against the run of play Jack made a couple of thunderous runs and on a couple of occasions was unlucky not to score. On one great run the ball was played to Joe who coming inside found Tom in space who had a great shot from just inside the box which went inches wide with the goalkeeper beaten.

In the second half playing down the slope Ryan, with Kieran now playing at the back together with Danny were all largely spectators and the Fairfax performance of the second half mirrored ours from the first.

We continued to dominate and you always felt we could get something out of the game. Charlie Perry, Lloyd and Shaun all had chances to get on the scoresheet but today just was not going to be our day.

There certainly appeared to be very little between both sides and both goals came from our own defensive mistakes. Fairfax are a strong physical team who are commited. The main thing in life is that we should all learn from our mistakes. Hopefully these types of mistake won't happen again

However, all said and done the performance was good overall and we could have got a result, we have the chance to put things right next Sunday!!

Well done to all the boys who played and again gave so much effort, you all worked hard and deserved much more from the game.
