Lions hit by last
minute stunner |
The Lions
worked extremely hard in bitter conditions, we always seemed to
cope very well with whatever Hawkwell threw at us. Ryan made a
couple of fantastic saves to deny their forwards. |
As always
Kieran, Jack and Danny (captain for the day), stopped everything
in defence. |
Charlie R,
Shaun and James all worked tirelessly and we could not have made
more of the wind being behind us and playing down the slope in
the first half. |
| |
At half time
Lloyd, Joe and Tom were all introduced and against a swirling
wind worked immensly hard to get into Hawkwell territory and on
more than a few occasions, they were lucky that the keeper was
there to save the day. |

We conceded
corner after corner but still felt confident that they would not
score. The Hawkwell keeper took one massive goal kick which
carried the full length of the pitch and Ryan had to be at his
best to push the ball over the bar. Then with a minute or so to
go, a Hawkwell player on the edge of the box was not closed down
and unleashed a shot which Ryan did well to parry but the
forward was able to follow up and poke the ball home. |

It really
was not what the boys deserved as they all worked tremendously
hard for each other, but in football one mistake can be all to
costly. |
As always it
was a great game to watch and you should all be really proud of
what you did even though the result was not exactly as we would
have liked. Keep working hard! You will keep improving and
results will follow. |
