Solid Performance

Building on last week, this time we had three of our midfielders back and regained our depth of players to draw upon.

This week the players that gave such a great performance against Valley had earned a first team start and within 10 minutes it was obvious that Wickford would find the Forest midfield and attack hard to cope with. The play came down both sides with crosses into the box that would shame any Premiership club.

Good linking play between Robert, Tom, James (on the right) and Billy on the left had the first goal coming after eleven minutes from Billy slotting home a perfectly placed left foot shot from a very tight angle. Harry followed from a corner kick from Rob that found Harry on the eighteen yard line, a volley hit the back of the net before Wickford could organise a defence. Billy hit home again from an even tighter angle followed by Alex.

The second half began with a spirited attack from Wickford but this time no one was going to break down the Forest defence, even the changing of Ryan due to injury, Daniel Schormans due to shear hard work, could not upset the solid line. Harry added his second and it was time to give the other subs a run out. Josh had four clear chances on goal but Wickford had substituted in the second half with a much improved goal keeper which frustrated the attack. Liam came into the defence and again made his mark to protect the Forest clean sheet.
