Forest Back with a Bang

David Cooper's wing magic destroyed a valiant Leigh Ramblers team at Barleylands on Sunday and moved Forest back into contention for top spot in the New Year with a seven goal blast.

Cooper set up two goals inside 10 minutes with dazzling wing play and both goals were dispatched coolly by the classy Steven Bourner and hat trick man Lee Mulreany. The second came after Leigh had equalised when Forest were heavily on top.

Another before half time from Cooper was worth the entry fee alone, he collected a goal kick and blasted the ball back down the throat of the stunned Leigh keeper from fully 35 yards, a great goal.

Half time 3-1 The impressive Jonathan Diment had to be replaced with Jimmy Jones at the break.

The second half began and Forest extended their lead with another from Mulreany and then again from Cooper. Glade eased off slightly and saw Leigh score with a good finish. Mulreany then completed his hat trick and Bourner added another for 7-2. A late strike from Leigh saw the final score at 7-3.

The team were clearly back to themselves and go into the Christmas break happy in the knowledge that winning their league is in their own hands, I for one fancy their chances if they continue to play to their full potential.
