After weeks of
waiting Forest finally clinched promotion with a 6 goal salvo at
Barleylands on Sunday. From the first whistle the whole team
were determined not to let the chance pass and went ahead on 8
minutes through Lee Mulreany after good work by Jonathan Diment.
Mulreany then made it 2-0 with a powerful finish and David
Cooper made it three before the break. Forest were cautious not
to take their foot off of the pedal and soon after the break
went 4-0 up through clever play by David Cooper. Man of the
match Ben Harrison continued to drive forward with tough
tackling and simple passing aided by midfield partner Callum
O'Shea who displayed some fine passing.
The celebrations were
not far away and David Cooper finished a sparkling performance
with a neat finish for 5-0. The icing on the cake was Jimmy
Jones individual effort on 90 minutes when he rounded three
challenges and fired cooly into the net for 6-0.
Thomas Sabberton was
strong at the back aided by the ever solid Peter Wild. Keeper
Marus Parsons will want more days like this when Forest begin
their push in division B next season.
