Jones Stuns Ramblers

Jimmy Jones scored a stunning last minute goal at Barleylands on Sunday as Forest recorded a vital win over Leigh Ramblers by four goals to three. The scoring started on 8 minutes by the ultra impressive David Cooper from the penalty spot after Rhys Hooper was fouled. He coolly stroked the spot kick home for 1-0. Forest then went to sleep somewhat and before they knew it were 2-1 behind at half time.

The team rallied from the whistle in the second half and were level when Cooper again followed in good work from the left by Lee Mulreany and Rhys Hooper. The game was there to be won and how it was. Lee Mulreany, fresh back from illness scored a tremendous goal when he fired in an unstoppable drive from the left hand side when he looked like he was about to cross, 3-2.

But, with 5 minutes left Ramblers equalised with a suspect effort and their celebrations were there for all to see. With a point in their sights, Jimmy Jones picked the ball up 30 yards out and let fly with his right foot, only to see the ball hit the underside of the bar and bounce over the line. Just to make sure David Cooper was again on hand to blast it into the net just to make sure.

Jones picked up the man of the match award by a literal whisker from Dave Cooper, but all in all everyone was glad to see the points coming home.
