Lions just miss out in close encounter

Forest Glade Lions started off their first ever league game narrowly losing 0-1 away to Hawkwell. The Lions started quickly and spent most of the first half attacking the Hawkwell goal. Twice the Hawkwell goalkeeper made very good saves. Despite having the majority of the first half chances, Forest Glade could not capitalise on their good start. As the half went on, Hawkwell started to pass the ball well and in the last few minutes scored a good goal, with the centre forward finishing a good passing move.

If anything Forest Glade started the second half in an even more determined manner and started to push for the equaliser in very hot conditions. Despite making good progress and spending alot of the time on the attack, Hawkwell's structured defence played very well and with Forest Glade pushing on it left us open to counter attacks. The game was played in a very good spirit and all supporters agreed it was a very entertaining evenly balanced match.
