Forest on Fire.

Playing against the team that finished 4th in the league last year, we were expecting a tough game.

Thorpe Bay started strongly and after 10 minutes capitalised on a defensive mix up and went 1-0 ahead.

Forest then took control with some quite breathtaking play. We were using the ball well in midfield and attacking down the flanks making good use of the space available. Just before half time we took total control with three quick goals.

Firstly, Robert was on the left hand side of the box, cutting inside he released a great shot which looped over the goalkeeper making it 1-1. Soon after Lloyd being outstanding on the day collected the ball and after a mazy run between a couple of defenders toe poked the ball under the oncoming goalkeeper to put us a head. (I heard someone say that goal was similar to Ricky Villa, FA Cup Final Replay 1981, Lloyd must have been watching some old Spurs Videos to be able to perform such a feat). Moments later Luke penetrated the defence again and with a cool finish made it 3-1!! The crowd were on the pitch, they think it's all over! Sadly, it wasn't even half time yet! However we were all going mental.

At half time the boys were buzzing and it was hard to keep the exicitment to a managable level.  Soon after the restart Thorpe Bay were awarded a free kick from just outside the area, the kick was dispatched with great accuracy leaving Oli with no chance, 3-2.

We rode our luck a little on a couple of occasions and could not capitalise on further chances that went our way. We continued to keep good possession and in the end fully deserved the win.

Yes, our first 3 points of the season in our first league game!

Every player was magnificent on the day and no player could really be singled out for special praise. There really were 11 heroes out there at any one time and they all fully deserved the points after a hard thought win.

Well done to you all, more of the same next week.
