Super Blues

This was a top of the table clash.  (1st v 2nd). If Trinity were to win there would be 1 point separating both teams. If we won it would effectively end the Trinity title dream!

Statistics were not in favour. In five previous meetings Trinity had Won 3 games (one cup game on penalties) and drawn the other two. You could say they were our Nemesis.

We really wanted to bounce back from our last outing against Fairfax and all the boys wanted to do well. The expectation was to win every first time ball and always fight and believe there was no lost cause.

We started the game well, having plenty of possession. However we really did not create any clear cut chances to score in the first half and both teams were probably happy with a 0-0 score line at half time.

In the second half we started to dominate play and create more pressure in the Trinty half, we had plenty of corners but were unable to put them under too much pressure. About 15 minutes in, Jack took a free-kick from some 30 yards out which the keeper spilled and Shaun was in a brilliant position to follow up and give us the lead. 1-0 to the Blues.

More or less straight after the restart we had a frightful moment when the centre forward got in on our goal and Olly came out and smothered the ball to keep us ahead. Trinity started to get more into the game and a shear peace of brilliance got us further ahead. With around 5 minutes left, Wayne had the ball just inside the Trinty half, Shimmed one way then the other ghosted through about 4 players and into the Trinity box leaving all the defenders trailing and stroked the ball under the despairing dive of the keeper to make it 2-0! The crowd went wild.

It was still not over and with minutes to go Shaun seemed to copy Wayne with a driving run through the middle evading the Trinity tackles and from the edge of the box, calmly lifted a great shot over the oncoming keeper to make it 3-0 to the Blues!

The performance was full passion and every player gave a great account of themselves in a very important game.

It was difficult to single out any player for 'Player of the Match' however Charlie seemed to be all other the pitch and although playing upfront was seen on many occasion digging in and helping out with the defending all round the pitch.

WELL DONE TO ALL THE PLAYERS, ITs GREAT TO GET ANOTHER 3 POINTS AND A CLEAN SHEET.
