Boys played like it was a cup game.

The boys were so “up” for this game as some of the boys from their school and old team played for Wickford Town. They all arrived early and so excited.

Forest Glade had 80% of the possession and with Connor and Ryan up front the boys were unlucky with a few shots going wide or just over the cross bar.

William was having a fantastic time, in the first half, running down the right wing and getting past the Wickford defender all the time. With Samuel in defence “MR ICE!” things just were not going Wickford’s way. When Wickford attacked, the pace and skill of Toby saw him continually clear the danger as he played the ball either down the wing or safely out for a throw.

Andrew, as captain, had total control of his team and his own performance saw him making some great tackles which stopped Wickford from getting anywhere near Ben Brown in goal who was also outstanding.

The wind that day was stopping Forest playing on the floor where they play there best football not in the air. Reece in the midfield was very strong winning every tackle and laying the ball when he could up front.

Wickford had one break and took there chance well with a top corner shot making the game 1-0.

Ben came off at half time for Dennis to go in goal and Ben Cruse came on for Toby.

Jamie and James just outran the Wickford boys but a strong challenge led to James coming off.

Ryan made a good tackle in the midfield and the ball broke over the Wickford defence. Martin ran like he had never run before and reached the ball just ahead of the keeper. Bravely he lifted the ball over the oncoming keeper just before they collided. 1-1 and the Forest players and parents went mental.

Although Forest pressed for the rest of the game with Freddie dominating the midfield with strong tackles they couldn’t get the winning goal and the game ended 1-1.
