Spirited U14 battle against the wind

The wind was blowing a gale for this match and various periods of driving rain led to overall miserable conditions.  Forest won the toss and played with the wind in the first half.  The wind did play a part, and at times Coombewood were on the back foot defending deep.  John's drop kicks were straight down the park and posing an instant danger right at the Coombewood keeper.  A long shot from Lewis Fear and a composed tap-in from Lewis Farrier got two goals on the sheet for Forest.  The half-time score was 2-1, and the fight was on.

Coombewood started the second half very well and scored two goals in fairly quick time.  However, the Forest heads didn't go down and they battled on.  Coombewood didn't make the most of the wind, and in fact Forest had quite a few run-ins towards the opposition goal.  One resulted in a great 2nd goal from Lewis Fear.

Forest had a few more chances to seal the match, and also defended brilliantly all over the pitch.  John was solid in goal to meet all the long balls, distance shots and get down at player's feet to collect the loose balls.

Given Forest were playing into the wind in the second half, and 3-2 down at one point, then 3-3 seemed a fair result.  Shame the Forest lads couldn't just nick a goal towards the end!!  Well done boys!
