A good start to the season

We got the season off to a great start with a comprehensive away win at United Amatures in Dagenham.

After a slightly nervy start, it took a couple of goals for us to settle down and play some good football at times. As has been evident in the two friendlies, we played well in patches and at times found it scrappy and in need of a little bit more composure. That said, we got the early goal from James Kay on 8 minutes and continued to put pressure on their defence but found that final pass going astray, or us passing when a shot might have served us better. However after 21 minutes we scored direct from a Jon Thompson corner and followed that up with a 20 yard powerdriver effort from Brad and an individual effort by Joe running through on their last man and goal keeper and being rewarded for his energy by slotting in the rebound from his shot. Half time 4 Nil.

After the break we continued to put pressure on their defence and played some better football. After 41 minutes Jack Norris scored the first of his hatrick and James Kay scored his 2nd. United Amatures then scored a goal to make it 6-1 after 55 minutes. 2 minutes later and Jack scored his 2nd. After 64 minutes Jamie Chapman scored his first ever goal and this was followed by Jacks third (well done).

After 75 minutes Jon Thompson score his 2nd by going on a solo run from inside his own half and finishing well. After 84 minutes we scored our final 11th goal with yet another first ever goal, this time for Ryan Dalby.(ouch Steve!! thats gonna cost you lol !)

It was pleasing to get a win away from home and bag 3 points. Although we scored 11, our defence was tested at times and needed discipline to keep some of their very good players at bay.

Well done to all the lads!!
