Emblem Youth 4 Forest Glade 1

First League defeat of the season

We travelled to Emblem Youth full of optimism and confidence that as long as we continued to play as we had done the previous week then we would gain something from the game.

It was apparent however after only a few minutes that this was going to be a difficult game. We failed to stamp our authority on the game with Emblem getting to the first and second ball quicker and stronger and they kept their shape better.

It proved to be a physical contest at times and we lost our composure to try and pass the ball around and ended up trying to 'out battle' them. We found ourselves 2 Nil down at half time although we could have gone in all square as James Kay had a shot cleared off the line by one of their defenders and Joe Bumpas had an opportunity from about 20 yards to slot the ball back at goal after a misplaced clearance only for the ball to be placed wide.

After the break we got a goal back after probably our best bit of football which resulted in George firing the ball across the goal for Jack Norris to slot home from close range.

As the game progressed we gambled on pushing Tom into midfield and left 3 at the back. His energy appeared to liven up the game a bit, but always left us vulnerable at the back with only 3 defenders. Unfortunately the gamble did not pay off as they grabbed two further goals as the game got stretched. Jack Mole once again did well in goal for us with a couple of one on one saves.

We now have a two week break to work on getting the lads back on track for the next game.
