The boys were
well fired up for this game knowing that the home fixture
against the same team could not be played due to a League/FA
ruling on the fixture cancelled prior to Christmas. The harsh
reality is 2 points lost but even if awarded would probably only
mean third place for Forest with the form of front runners
Rayleigh B and Chalvedon. The boys took the fire into the game
and got off to a fast start taking a 4-0 lead with goals from
Hewitt and Douglas. The pick of the bunch being a crunching
tackle from Oakley, playing in the centre, releasing the ball to
Walsh who in turn played to Kay out wide right. Kay played an
inch perfect ball over the top of the Hawkwell defence with
Hewitt cleverly beating the offside trap. Hewitt’s speed took
him away and with the ball in the area cut onto his right foot
and hit a crisp drive into the goal leaving the goalkeeper
stranded. Douglas had scored two well worked goals rounding the
keeper both times. Frustration crept into the Hawkwell game with
some very late challenges which marred the game. Forest lost
there concentration for a five minute spell allowing two weak
goals to be conceded. However, a fifth goal was scored by Forest
prior to half time. The second half was a one way affair with
Hawkwell reverting to some very late challenges to try to knock
Forest off stride. Thankfully the referee was well in control of
the game. It could have been a hatful in the second half but
only 3 goals were scored. Hewitt coming away with 4 goals,
Douglas 3 and Pattinson a second half substitution 1. A late
consolation was scored by Hawkwell but the margin of the score
flattered Hawkwell as they were overpowered by the quality of
Forest. Had it not been for the woodwork and some good
goalkeeping the score could have easily been double figures. |

MoM George
Walsh - Great work rate and distribution with the usual
individual skill. But must learn to keep lid on temperament and
let his feet do the talking. |
