Forest
turned up for this game in good spirit and looking
professional in their BRAND NEW tracksuit tops. The two
teams showed respect for those in the war with a minutes
silence and after that the teams were ready to go. |
|
However,
straight from the kick-off they caused us a problem down the
wing. Their player shot at goal but Aaron made a great goal
line clearance. But the ball fell to their player who had
another shot which was superbly saved by Matt, first with
his hands then with his feet. A lucky escape for Forest, who
then went on to control the game for the rest of the match. |
|
But
although the result suggests otherwise the ball just would
not go in for Forest. Sam had a chance that was saved by the
keeper and one that curled wide. Joe went on some great runs
and had some good chances but just couldn’t convert any of
them. Hamlet never troubled us with the back 4 sweeping
everything up and Chris went close with a volley. Half time
and no goals despite running Hamlet ragged and creating
numerous chances. |
|
However
early in the second half we finally scored. A quick break
from Forest gave Alex S, Jack M, Sam A and Ben all a chance
to score but the ball finally fell for Joe who hit a hard
shot into the bottom corner. For a brief spell after the
goal Hamlet put us under some pressure but the defence
remained strong and Matt didn’t really have another save to
make for the rest of the match. Then, with about 10 minutes
remaining a long shot from Jack looked like a routine save
for the keeper. But the ball bounced over his head and into
the net. 2-0 Forest. |
|
Chasing a
2-0 deficit, Hamlet started to push up leaving a lot of
holes in their defence and Forest took full advantage of
this. Joe went on a mazy run into the box then pulled the
ball back for Jack S who had a simple finish for 3. Mark
then made a darting run into box but his run was halted and
the ball fell for Joe. |
|
Then from
a good 20 yards he curled the ball into the top corner for
4. What a goal! Then with time ticking down a cross field
ball by Alex V found Jamie. With the keeper charging out
Jamie exquisitely lifted the ball over the keeper for a
fantastic 5th goal for Forest. Final score 5-0. Great
football boys, 5 goals and a fantastic result. Well
Deserved! |
