Forest
and Rockets played out what surely must have been one of
the games of the season. On a pitch which was by no
means perfect, both sides played open attacking football
and the scoreline certainly reflected that. |
|
Forest
took the lead after a bright start when Jack Still
scored after a neat move but we were pegged back
straight away when their player shot low into the corner
to level things up. |
|
Forest
went back on the attack and Alex S was unlucky when his
shot had to be tipped over the bar by their goalkeeper.
However, from the resulting corner Forest took the lead
again when after a scramble, Sam A smashed the ball in
from just inside to box. |
|
But
once again Rockets equalised with a goal which mirrored
their first. Then slightly against the run of play, a
mix up in defence saw their player hit the ball into the
top corner for 3 - 2 to them. It was harsh on Forest who
always looked dangerous on the break with the midfield
releasing Sam E and Joe M and their pace caused real
problems. |
|
Forest
got a deserved equaliser when Joe M put a dangerous ball
in the box, they failed to clear and Alex S smashed in
the leveller at back post just before half time. With
the score 3 - 3 at half time the game was nowhere near
over. |
|
Forest
knew if they kept playing their football then they would
get the result they needed. Forest took the lead again
when Alex S slipped the ball through to Sam E who shot
past the keeper for 4 - 3. Forest then had numerous
chances to put the game beyond doubt. Although not
scoring today, Joe M was a constant threat and provided
great balls to team mates and he himself was unlucky a
few times. |
|
The
game was almost won with 5minutes left. Substitute Jamie
slid a ball into Jack M's path and he scored from a
tight angle for 5-3. However, Rockets grabbed a goal
back with not long to go to set the hearts racing again.
|
|
But
Forest weren’t going to let it slip and held on for a
memorable victory. And in case I lost you in the match
report the result was 5-4 to Forest. 3 wins on the trot
for the Blues now. It’s just a shame that the run of
form as come just to late to mount a title challenge.
