This was a very big game for me as manager and also to Alexs and Matt as it was the first time we were going back to play against our old club.

The game started at a fast pace with both teams trying to pass the ball around and settle into the game. A Rockets’ striker played an inch perfect ball that split our defence, which their other striker ran onto and he wasted no time in putting the ball into the net. So 1-0 down.

After this the boys showed great character and started to play some good football. Sam Marsh was having a very solid game at left back and winning every tackle as they struggled to find away past him.

Just as we was getting on top in the game Rockets’ striker Mitchell was clean through on goal. Matt came out of his goal and made his self big, Mitchell tried to chip Matt, but Matt made a good save to keep his side in the game.

The midfield of Jack Moxley and Sam were playing well in the middle of the park winning important tackles and trying to find our front two strikers.

So at half time it was 1-0. I could not ask any more from my team, they were giving 110% and playing some very good football. Jack Still was having a very good game, he showed some neat touches. As Jack made a darting run into the penalty area, Jack Moxley played the ball to him. Jack was then brought down by their defender and a penalty was awarded to us. The team looked to David Smith to take the spot kick. He kept a cool head and what a penalty it was, bottom right hand corner, so 1-1.

With this the whole team went up a gear. They were now on top in this game and they looked like they could go on and win the game. Chris Wong was winning important headers at the back along with winning important tackles and he showed their big midfielder who was boss out on the pitch. Jamie and Aaron were both having solid games at the back.

As we pushed forward Ben picked the ball up. As he ran towards their goal he was brought down on the edge of the area. Direct free kick. Up stepped Jack Moxley he curled the ball over the wall and it went inches over. Alexs Virrels was having a very solid game on the left wing he was tracking back well to support Sam at left back As the game was approaching the last 10 minutes Jack found Alexs on the left hand side of the penalty area as he took on their defenders and from a very tight angle he took a shot ,which was cleared off the line. We were unlucky not to take the lead.

The game looked like it was going to be a 1-1 draw and with 7 minutes left Rockets came forward and the ball fell to Mitchell in our penalty area and he put the ball away to give his team a 2-1 lead. With time running out it was looking like we were going to be hard done by and lose the game 2-1. With all the good football being played by the boys and the 110% effort put into the game by them they deserved something from the game.

As we entered the last two minutes of the game David Smith ran down the right wing and he put the perfect cross into their penalty area and this was met with a perfect placed header from Joe Maskell which found the back of their goal. It was now 2-2, the players had got what they deserved a point from all the hard work they had put into the game.

As the ref looked at his watch he blew for full time so the game ended 2-2. Well done boys you played some very good football out there today, you gave me 110% and I was very proud of the whole team.
