Basildon Boys

Forest suffered a harsh defeat going down 3-2 to Basildon Boys on Sunday to slightly dent their title hopes.

After taking an early lead through Steven Bourner with a well taken goal, they took their foot off the pedal defensively and saw Basildon equalise just before half time. 1-1 at the break.

The talking point of the match happened just after half time with an award of a penalty for Basildon after a great tackle by Peter Wild that appeared to be as clean as a whistle. Everyone was stunned as the referee pointed to the spot. The penalty was dispatched and this seemed to rattle the team somewhat.

Another goal followed to make the score 1-3 with 20 minutes left. The Glade then rallied and got a goal back through Callum O'Shea, who smashed one in from the edge of the area, 2-3.

With everyone expecting at least 5 minutes injury time with so many stoppages, Forest were disappointed that the final whistle came right on full time.
